A rash of trucker shortage articles has hit the news lately..again...for the second, third, fourth time etc. They say the same thing:
- There are not enough truckers to fill the positions
- Companies are looking
- The training programs are not training enough to fill them
- The trucker fleet is aging
- The government is forcing lots of drivers out
- Many younger candidates and employees do not want to be on the road for weeks at a time
- What do we do?
This is a bunch of hogwash.
It is very simple what happens in just about EVERY other industry when people won't take a job
the wages go up.....way up...way way up.
So now "Joe" high school realizes he can earn 70,000, 80,000, 90,000 in a relatively short time..and the time on the road trucking doesn't seem that bad. As wages go up, the 'negatives' of a job become much more bearable
And in capitalism, when lots of people take a job with high wages, the wages stabilize..problem solved
Socialism offers stale suppressed wages with no incentives...
